Size guide

Getting the size right first time

Our apparel is unisex and printed to order, so it's worth two minutes with a tape measure. Measure a garment you already like, compare it to the tables below, and pick the closest match.

These tables are standard unisex blank sizing, not measurements taken from our own stock. We have not yet confirmed them against the exact garments our printer uses, so treat them as a starting point and measure a top you already own before ordering. We will replace them with our supplier's own figures once we have them.

How to measure

The most reliable method isn't measuring yourself — it's measuring a top you already own and wear happily. Lay it flat on a table, smooth out the wrinkles, and take two numbers.

One — chest width

Measure straight across the garment from armpit seam to armpit seam, with the front flat. That is a flat measurement of half the chest, which is how the tables below are written.

Two — body length

Measure from the highest point of the shoulder, next to the collar, straight down to the bottom hem.

Three — compare

Find the row closest to your two numbers. If you land between sizes, size up — cotton jersey shrinks slightly in a warm wash, and a roomier tee is easier to live with than a tight one.

If you measure your own chest instead, that is a full circumference — halve it, then add 5–10 cm (2–4 in) for the ease a top needs to hang properly.

Unisex t-shirt

A regular unisex cut with a straight body. Sizes S to 3XL.

Chest width is measured flat from armpit to armpit — roughly half the way round. Inches are rounded to the nearest whole inch, so they will not convert exactly from the centimetre column.

Unisex hoodie & sweatshirt

Hoodies and crew-neck sweatshirts share the same body block, so one table covers both. They run roomier than the t-shirt at the chest and a little shorter in the body.

Hoodies are cut for a layer underneath. If you already own a hoodie that fits over a jumper, measure that one rather than a t-shirt.

Choosing a fit

Close fit: pick the size whose chest width matches your favourite top almost exactly.

Relaxed fit: go one size up. On a hoodie that is about 5 cm (2 in) more across the chest and 2–3 cm more length.

Between two sizes: size up. Printed cotton can shrink a little on its first warm wash, and the care page explains how to avoid most of that.

These are unisex cuts, so they run straight through the body rather than shaped at the waist. If you usually wear a fitted women's cut, expect a looser shape at the same nominal size.

Before you order

Printed apparel is made to order, and custom prints are final sale. Each item is printed for you after you order — add 2–4 days before dispatch, and expect apparel and gear on the same order to ship separately. Because a printed garment cannot be resold, we cannot take it back for a size change, which is exactly why this page exists.

Our travel gear follows the ordinary policy: 30 days to return anything unused in its original packaging, and we cover the return label.

If a printed item arrives with a manufacturing fault — a bad seam, a misplaced print — that is on us. Email a photo and your order number and we will sort it. The warranty page sets out what is covered.

Still unsure between two sizes? Send us the two measurements from your own top at hello@bonvoyage-shops.com and we will tell you which row we would pick. A person answers, usually within one working day.
